NSW Commission for Children & Young People
The NSW Commission for Children and Young People asked Reading Room to redesign its site with improved information architecture to cater for a wide audience from children to government decision-makers. The new site is simple, colourful and meets high levels of usability and accessibility. Features of the new site include a closed discussion forum, online booking of meeting rooms, online purchases of various publications, a flash-based games/activities section in addition to content manageable pages.

NSW Adult Migrant Education Service
NSW AMES asked Reading Room to design and develop a new site for them because they needed a team who were skilled in usability and accessibility, and could be relied upon to build a site that would comply with the tight NSW Government Style Guidelines for website design. We developed a new AMES brand, applied it to a range of corporate material and then went to work on the website. The newly developed site is user-friendly, and easy to understand for people with limited English. The new AMES site also included a custom built shopping cart that allows users to purchase publications and course licences which is available in 15 different languages.

National Museum of Australia
Our brief from the National Museum was to undertake a post-implementation review of its web architecture project – we assessed the achievements against the Museum's vision, the deliverables and the level of satisfaction of the Museum's stakeholders with the outcome.

Queensland Rail
Reading Room recommended using Tridion to meet Queensland Rail's primary objective of faster, more effective multi-channel communication with customers and worked alongside Tridions team in Europe to implement it.
The Tridion content management system gave Queensland Rail the flexibility and ease-of-use they needed to make the content a sales tool. A back-end administration section allowed authorised Queensland Rail staff to action online forms submitted by customers. Queensland Rail wanted their site to be updated to reflect a new branding strategy and to allow them to better understand and respond to customer needs.
Tridion was ideally positioned to meet the range of features and stringent requirements necessary to manage Queensland Rail's complex web content management requirements, including the need for personalisation, external collaboration and the management and reuse of content. Reading Room has a strong track record of undertaking enterprise projects involving the development of complex content management systems and integration with internal resources.
Reading Room continues to provide post-implementation support with web content management training as well as web governance and support structure that includes an ongoing maintenance.

Redbox Hardware
RedBox Hardware is operated by a successful hardware retail outlet located on the Australian Eastern Seaboard. Realising that there was no reliable, fully stocked online hardware store in Australia for customers in remote areas, or with little time on their hands, the owners commissioned Reading Room to brand, design and build a unique online shop for all hardware and gardening needs Reading Room engaged with RedBox to design and build a new online shopping website. Starting from only the name and concept of the online store, we developed a complete online brand identity. Having more than 3,000 products available for purchase presented a challenge in that it places high demand on navigation and search. The site automatically suggests related products, providing a 360 degree shopping experience.

Grains Research and Development Corporation
In January 2007 Reading Room was selected from a competitive tender process to provide web services and support for the next three years for the GRDC, one of the world's leading grains research organisations. GRDC has to communicate to a wide audience including researchers seeking reliable, trustworthy information and growers often working in remote areas with limited or slow access to the internet. The prime driver behind the rebuild of the website was to make information more accessible and retrievable through restructured information architecture and streamlined design. The website can be managed easily by content approvers and authors through the use of a content management system to support the informational and its classification. The website includes a number of interactive features aimed at meeting the objectives and reaching diverse audience groups, particularly growers, researchers and Federal and State Government.

Blackthorn Resources
Blackthorn Resources (previously AIM resources) is an Australian-based resources company with an exciting portfolio of African assets in South Africa, Zambia and Burkina Faso. Reading Room was asked to create a new and modern look to the Blackthorn Resources web presence, whilst maintaining their down-to-earth and professional position. We felt the first thing to do was to design a visually appealing site that identified the company as what it was, an Australian doing business in Africa. Using unconventional (for a website) colours, African iconography and a header image that spoke of both continents, we did just that. The new site for Blackthorn Resources also incorporates stock and mineral price charts from stock exchanges Blackthorn Resources can update through their custom built content management system. As well as a flash location map containing information about the mines, the countries and the resources being mined.

IDP Education Australia
Reading Room was appointed by IDP to install an easy to use CMS to manage content for multiple website in multiple languages. The installation of the immediacy CMS now allows non technical web editors to edit and publish content to a high level of accessibility. IDP are working on a number of sites in a staging environment and will be making some of these immediacy supported websites live in early 2008.

MC2 Pacific
Reading Room were selected to redesign the MC2 Pacific web site having been referred by an existing client. It was deemed that Reading Room could provide a unique style and approach to satisfy MC2 Pacific's online brief. MC2 Pacific are specialist advisers in strategic risk management to many major international companies. Despite their relatively small size, MC2 Pacific have worked with and completed projects for an extensive list of major international companies in key industry sectors and needed a site that would portray their professional approach. Reading Room gave MC2 Pacific an edge over competitors by developing a bespoke content management system for an up-datable news spotlight section. Accessibility and usability were of paramount importance and the design of the site reflects this. Reading Room assisted MC2 Pacific with the production of a flat version of the site, which could be burned onto a CD-ROM and distributed to their corporate clients.
