Queensland Museum
Queensland Museum is the custodian of the state’s natural and cultural heritage. We were commissioned to redesign and develop their website so that its potential as a learning resource and as a revenue stream were fully realised.
Our design created a consistent look across their seven websites and continues to present a significant amount of content in a logical, highly intuitive fashion. The new site is more efficient for staff and users alike, and the Sitecore CMS is seamlessly integrated with their digital collection storage software Vernon.

Australian Museum
Looking to be the first place people visit when exploring the nature and varying cultures of Australia, the Australian museum wanted to attract more visitors to the website and, ultimately, the museum. We completely overhauled their previous site to bring the Museums' wealth of information, activities and resources into the 21st century. Their new online identity attracts a worldwide audience where users are also encouraged to comment and interact, both with each other and the Museum.

National Archives of Australia
The National Archives of Australia asked Reading Room to implement the enterprise level Content Management System Tridion and integrate this with the NAA Records and Documents Management System, TRIM context. Information architecture, page design and content layout was also analyzed and restyled with careful focus on the end user and attention to detail and with adherence to standards compliance, usability and accessibility.
WWF UK
WWF tasked Reading Room with communicating the depth of their organisation in the digital environment whilst remaining approachable and tangible. We delivered a strategy for the site based on interaction, simplicity, and focus, with a bold architectural approach and catching design, both of which highlight the diversity of WWF's offering, without alienating the organisations valuable and potential supporters.

Redbox Hardware
RedBox Hardware is operated by a successful hardware retail outlet located on the Australian Eastern Seaboard. Realising that there was no reliable, fully stocked online hardware store in Australia for customers in remote areas, or with little time on their hands, the owners commissioned Reading Room to brand, design and build a unique online shop for all hardware and gardening needs Reading Room engaged with RedBox to design and build a new online shopping website. Starting from only the name and concept of the online store, we developed a complete online brand identity. Having more than 3,000 products available for purchase presented a challenge in that it places high demand on navigation and search. The site automatically suggests related products, providing a 360 degree shopping experience.

Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils
Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC), the peak association of twelve local councils, came to Reading Room with a brief to create a fresh, clean web site to portray their professional organisation Reading Room created a bespoke content management system that would give SSROC the ability to frequently update their content as new developments occur. The focal point of the site are the community projects such as the Botany Bay Program, and Heavy Metal > Soft Head, which require up-to-the-minute progress reports.The content management system consists of customisable user profiles where staff members can be assigned access rights to specific areas of the site, allowing for maximum editorial flexibility whilst maintaining full control. To give the site an uncluttered feel, the design incorporates DHTML navigation, allowing maximum space for content and images. Navigation is repeated as text in the footer to aid accessibility and usability.

Hornsby Shire Council
Reading Room designed and developed Hornsby Shire Council's main council site, Hornsby.nsw.gov.au, after winning the contract in a tight strategic tender process. HSC's brief for hornsby.nsw.gov.au was to develop a site with a strong design aspect that would enhance the Council's goals of increasing electronic communications with the entire community. The site's custom built content management system is packed with features required by the communication demands of Hornsby Shire Council and allows extensibility for future development. Special features of the site include online subscription to e-newsletters and events, personalised navigation, homepage headlines, printer-friendly pages and an "email to a friend" function of news articles. A major component of the site is a very powerful search engine that allows users to browse all relevant data dynamically created content pages, PDF and Word documents.

Dural Irrigation
Dural Irrigation run a very successful bricks and mortar store in Sydney's north west which has been supplemented by the development of a website carrying their full range of irrigation products for sale to both retail and trade customers. The site was built originally as an information site with a shopping cart on the side, but the online store proved so popular that in 2007 we repurposed the site to become a shopping cart with some information on the side. With the increase in cutomer numbers has also come an increase in the complexity of the costing matrix of the site - it deals with retail and wholesale prices as well as an extensive series of different levels of discount. Dural Irrigation's site never stands still. Reading Room is always implementing new ideas, for instance, this year we have rebranded the site and introduced special deals on freight to take advantage of TV ads that are being broadcast in country areas.
