Trends for design and UX in 2011

We believe the mobile experience will ultimately mean a return to the web, rather than flipping between a series of standalone apps, but meanwhile, apps will continue to be the flavour of the moment throughout 2011.
The challenge for designers and user experience professionals alike is to create interfaces that offer a unified experience regardless of what platform you access this content on.
New advances in coding capabilities like html5 and CSS3 mean interface design can make big, bold advances.
Have a look at Webkit, an open source project that provides developers with a useful rendering engine for numerous modern browsers and applications.
As always, mobile interface design is about the user. Gestural interfaces may herald the end of the click – you can interact by swiping, touching or moving your mobile device –but we can’t abandon those people who have grown up expecting interaction through behaviour such as clicking.
Successful brands are those which effortlessly integrate their digital offering with their users’ lives, regardless of whether they’re using IE, a Nokia or an iPhone 4.
